10 Phrases You Should Never Use

When I first started my self-care and self-love journey, I ran across a podcast called The Melissa Ambrosini Show. Her core message — that love is sexy, healthy is liberating, and wealthy isn’t a dirty word — has helped me and others across the globe to take ownership of their lives and unlock their full potential. That was in 2017 and now 304 episodes later, I still value the information I receive from this wonderful soul-sister.

In addition to her famous podcast, Melissa is an entrepreneur, a keynote speaker and the bestselling author of Mastering Your Mean Girl and Open Wide. Based out of Australia, her audience spans the globe. Here in the United States, I tell everyone I know of how she’s changed my views and perspective on self-growth, positive mindset and mastering that mean girl that sometimes sets up camp in your head. Both of her books are my common go-to’s and I have gifted them to all of my girlfriends. At our 2018 family Christmas gathering, my youngest son Sam surprised me with a video of Melissa personally wishing me a Merry Christmas! She is the real deal and truly wants her audience to live the life of their dreams, create abundance and be the healthiest and happiest versions of themselves!

Every Wednesday, Melissa releases a new podcast episode where she interviews inspiring guests on topics from health, wealth, mediation, relationships, and so much more. In addition, every Monday she serves up a short 10-15 minute motivational episode to jump start your week. This week’s Monday Motivation is titled “10 Phrases I Will Never Use“. Below, I provide a condensed recap of this important topic but be sure to head over to the Melissa Ambrosini Show and listen to this episode (#304) in it’s entirety.

1. I can’t. I can’t start a business. I can’t learn the piano.

  • Take “I can’t” out of your vocabulary. Limiting inner critics are not your truth. Instead, replace with I CAN!

2. I can’t afford. I can’t afford that new house.

  • If it’s your will to have it, you will find a way. Speaking positive truth will manifest abundance.

3. I’m not ____ enough. Skinny enough, smart enough, successful enough.

  • Start focusing on things you are good at. Write down 10 things you love about yourself. Read Melissa’s book, Mastering Your Mean Girl or watch her recent Ted Talk. These tools will help stop that inner critic.

4. I’m not as ______ as Amanda (or whoever). As pretty, as smart, or whatever as someone else.

  • Comparison is the thief of joy. Do not compare yourself to anyone else. Be genuinely happy for others but run your own race.

5. I’m too old or too young to…

  • Age is an illusion. Age is just a number. It’s how you feel on the inside that matters. Don’t let it be a barrier. Do what feels true to you!

6. I’m so busy!

  • This is another word to delete out of your vocabulary. Everything has energy and “busy” has a very heavy, negative energy.

7. I’m sick.

  • If you feel under the weather, nauseous, fever, etc., try saying “My body is having a healing reaction.” Be mindful of the words you choose.

8. I’m so tired.

  • Remember…the universe has ears! Our words are our mantras. Say “I am relaxed” or “I am calm” and see how you feel afterwards.

9. I made a mistake. I regret. I failed at…

  • Choose every time that you fall down as an opportunity to grow and learn. Nothing is a mistake or failure. We are here to evolve and without falling, we do not grow.

10. I’m not perfect.

  • Delete “perfection” from your vocabulary. What is perfection anyway?? Strive to be the best version of yourself …not perfection.

11. Eleven? Bonus tip! You always or you never…

  • Always and never are such sweeping statements. Change that to “you sometimes do _____ and it makes me feel _____”.

Great tips, huh?! Also in this episode, Melissa created a FREE Self-Love Menu that you can print and post on the refrigerator or place in your office. So inspiring! Go to www.melissaambrosini.com/selflovemenu to get your copy!
